What should I do about lighting?
The BEST lighting for product photos is outside on a well lit day in an evenly shaded area. We realize that you can't control the weather so if you have to shoot indoors, try to find a brightly lit room. If at all possible, avoid using the flash on your camera. It can create "hot spots" and harsh shadows on your picture.
What type of backdrop should I use for my product photos?
Make sure you use a reasonably uniform background (like a sheet or counter top) and make sure there is contrast between product and background. If your product is mostly white, use a dark background and visa versa.
